Curriculum and Instruction - Master of Education
University of Cincinnati's Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction with a General Studies concentration allows individuals to seek their master's degree while enhancing their own knowledge and understanding of the American education system. Teachers gain the components of politics, economics, and research while elevating their role as knowledge generators and creators of the classroom. Additionally, the General Studies program prepares teachers to make positive changes in their classrooms, schools, and communities.

Gifted, Creative, Talented - Master of Education
The Gifted & Talented program focuses on the issues of teaching and learning from the perspective of the practicing classroom teacher who is interested in teaching and/or designing programs for gifted and talented students. Students are provided with the knowledge, skills and experiences needed to enhance student learning, and to increase their effectiveness as teachers and leaders in the field of gifted and talented education. The program addresses research, theory and best practices related to removing barriers to student achievement, learning environment, school culture and educational reform. Translating theory into practice is a primary emphasis. The MEd Gifted program is designed to produce educators who will identify and resolve common and potential legal/ethical issues related to gifted and talented education.

Educational Leadership - Master of Education

National Board Certification Teaching Standards - Master of Education
The National Board concentration is tailor-made for teachers seeking their MEd while preparing for the National Board Certification. Teachers know the specific subjects that they teach as well as, how to teach those subjects effectively to students. Additionally, they are responsible for managing and monitoring student learning, and are committed to their students and their learning. Teachers, who are considering the National Board concentration, think systematically about their practice and learn from experience, they are often members of learning communities. The UC MEd National Board degree program is founded on many leadership qualities including truth, efficiency, community, professionalism, democracy, excellence, integrity and progress.

Reading Specialist - Master of Education
The Reading Specialist focus ensures that licensed teachers receive the knowledge and skills needed to support students who display different types of literacy development as well as from differing cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Teachers enrolled in the UC MEd program will be prepared to use a wide variety of assessment tools and practices to plan and evaluate effective reading instruction and to offer key strategies to create a literate environment that fosters reading and writing. Teacher Leader - Master of Education
The Teacher Leader concentration is designed for those active classroom teachers who are interested in assuming a leadership role and added responsibility within their school (or building) but do not aspire to become a principal. Courses paired with practicum experiences afford teacher leader candidates both the knowledge and experience to implement professional learning communities, coach and mentor peers, as well as improve student outcomes through improved classroom practice.

Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages - Master of Education
The Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) concentration is geared toward individuals who are licensed in single or multiple subject areas and are interested in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). The program is designed to meet the national TESOL standards. The aim of the program is to prepare theoretically informed and practically equipped, caring, committed, and competent ESL teachers, curriculum developers and consultants and program administrators for domestic K-12 public and private schools.
