Entry level position. Perform routine technical tasks using GIF software. May or may not require a degree, although degrees will give you a competitive edge. May require security clearance. Average salary for a GIS Technician with 1-4 years experience is in the mid $30K.

Seeking a GIS Technician for a leading full-service environmental engineering and construction/remediation services firm in North America, providing environmental and geotechnical engineering and scientific consulting services.
Job Responsibilities:
· Provide GIS, database, and mapping support as a member of various water resources and environmental project teams.
· Perform and assist in GIS tasks associated with watershed modeling and floodplain mapping.
· Produce detailed map graphics for a diversity of projects using various graphics and software applications.
· Manage individual project tasks related to GIS, database design and management, mapping, data acquisition.
· Participate as a team member on various projects.
· Work on multiple projects simultaneously and under tight deadlines.
· Work in a production-oriented environment.
Job Requirements
· 0-3 years experience
· BA or BS in geography, earth science, or related field.
· Experience with ArcGIS and/or ArcView 3x.
· Knowledge of ESRI data models including ArcInfo coverages, shapefiles and geodatabases.
· Experience with DFIRM production and FEMA Mapping Specifications a plus.
· Knowledge of ArcSDE, ArcInfo and SQL Server a plus.
· Knowledge of AutoCAD or Microstation a plus.
· Knowledge of field data collection techniques using GPS a plus.
