EdD vs PhD
Both types of degrees are respected and can further one's education career in many ways. The EdD is more of a professional doctorate which prepares a student for positions such as educational administrator, superintendent, teacher educator, etc. The PhD helps to advance one's teaching career at higher levels, which can include academic research at the college/university level. Overall, there is very little difference between the two degrees and both will allow degree holders to teach and/or practice.
