| Education - Doctoral Degree Programs |
|
Many education administration jobs require a master's or doctoral degree and experience in a related occupation, such as a teacher or admissions counselor. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential because much of an administrator's job involves working and collaborating with others. Excellent opportunities are expected since a large proportion of education administrators is expected to retire in the next 10 years.
EdD vs PhD
Both types of degrees are respected and can further one's education career in many ways. The EdD is more of a professional doctorate which prepares a student for positions such as educational administrator, superintendent, teacher educator, etc. The PhD helps to advance one's teaching career at higher levels, which can include academic research at the college/university level. Overall, there is very little difference between the two degrees and both will allow degree holders to teach and/or practice. |
